Khaled Hosseini once said: â€Å"there are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.† Rape in Afghanistan is said to be an â€Å"epidemic,† but according to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of the term is â€Å"a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time.† Rape in this country is viewed as something that is inevitable and cannot be stopped. Usually, rape also involves domestic violence, hence the reason they’re paired together. Contrary to common misconception, men are raped as well as women, especially children of both genders. In the Kite Runner, rape is a topic that is prevalent in and throughout the book. Bacha Bazi is even a part of the Kite Runner. Bacha Bazi is a phrase that is a significant piece of the plot of the Kite Runner. It alludes to the rape of little boys. In the story, the protagonist, Amir, must go to Afghanistan to save his nephew from being a bacha bazi sex slave. With Amir’s decision to take action, he internally hopes that it will rid him of the guilt he felt as a child when he saw Hassan, his brother, raped. His guilt manifests over time because he did not support him by standing up for him. As part of the practice, rich people who buy the boys as slaves sometimes them dress up in female clothing. Recently they have had increased competition for their products by overseas manufacturers. With these increases their earnings will not be met for the first time in the company’s history. With the blow of this being felt high in the corporation, there are concerns about the effects on stocks, stock options and bonuses. There is currently talk of a sale of product to Data Equipment that needs to take place rapidly to benefit the company. Fuller has explained the regulations and laws to the accounting department and to Reed, and Reed seems to not care about cost to the company, just profitability. Share prices will also remain high because of this decision to report in 2010. Other options that are being discussed by Excello Telecommunications are to transfer the product to Data Equipment by December 31st, 2010 and agree that the customer could return it for a full refund after it arrives at Data Equipments warehouse. Given its appalling history of death and disorder, as well as the supernatural elements present within the play, many have come to the latter conclusion. To add, Macbeth is also a tragedy, adding more malediction to the already allegedly accursed play. To create such a tragic, ill-fated play, Shakespeare uses a vast variety of supernatural features, as well as the main component of a tragic hero, a tragic flaw. Macbeth is seen to have difficulty deciphering between good and evil when he thinks: This supernatural soliciting Cannot be ill, cannot be good. Through the latter quote it is seen that the prophecies presented to Macbeth are troubling him, for he does not know whether to believe the wicked witches or not, for they bear good news. To add, the witches also play a pivotal role for they aid in the advancement of the plot through their prophecies, which lead to the commencement of Macbeth’s corruption due to his blind ambition. As aforementioned, Macbeth has a tough time choosing between good and evil, and ultimately, becomes swayed by the temptation of the throne and chooses evil. However, on his own, Macbeth was not depraved enough to choose the latter, and only did such after being influenced by the witches’ prophecies.
